KYMCO VIN: Where to Find It and How to Read It
Where the VIN is stamped on each KYMCO scooter, ATV and UTV, how to read its 17 characters and year letter, and what it tells you about your machine.
Every KYMCO sold in the US carries a 17 character VIN (vehicle identification number). It is printed on the title and the registration and stamped on the frame, and it is the most exact way to identify your machine when you order parts. Our VIN lookup turns it into the model, the model year and the likely colour, then opens that machine's parts diagrams.

Where is the VIN on my KYMCO?
Scooters carry it behind a small cover or on a plate low on the frame; ATVs and side by sides have it stamped into the front of the frame. The table lists what each KYMCO dealer service manual says. The engine number is a separate serial on the crankcase: it identifies the engine, not the vehicle, and the parts catalog is looked up by the VIN.

How to read a KYMCO VIN
Take the worked example below, LC2U6G108MC000000, a real 2021 Agility 125 prefix with a made-up serial. Each colour is one part of the number:
- Manufacturer (1 to 3)
- Vehicle descriptor (4 to 8)
- Check digit (9)
- Model year (10)
- Plant (11)
- Serial number (12 to 17)

The letters I, O and Q never appear in a VIN, so a character that looks like an O is a zero. The 10th character is the model year:

The model year can begin before the calendar year does, so treat the letter as a guide; the lookup uses the whole VIN.
A worked example
LC2U6G108MC000000 is a real 2021 Agility 125 prefix with a made-up serial:
- LC2: the manufacturer code.
- U6G10: the vehicle descriptor, which our data ties to the Agility 125 (KYMCO model code KN25SJ).
- 8: the check digit. Change any other character and it no longer adds up.
- M: model year 2021.
- C: the assembly plant.
- 000000: the serial number (made up here; yours is the machine's production number).
What a VIN can and cannot tell you
We measured this on 10,132 KYMCO VINs whose model and colour are known, predicting each one from its neighbours with that VIN left out:
- Model: 96.7% right overall, and 98.3% where the neighbouring VINs agree. KYMCO builds each model in long runs, so the VIN pins the model down.
- Colour: about 2 in 3. Colour is not coded anywhere in the VIN (we tested every part of the serial), and KYMCO mixes colours in small batches on the line. That is why the lookup shows the likely colour and asks you to confirm it.
- When colour matters: mostly for painted bodywork, decals and trim. Mechanical parts are usually shared by all the colours of one model year, and the diagrams for your colour list the exact painted parts.
